HISTORY
If you would have told DW BBQ founder David Williams 25 years ago that he would be selling barbeque for a living, he probably would have chuckled a bit. He didn't see it coming, but in December of 2005, David wasted no time seeking after ways to make something out of what could potentially be a great opportunity. Determined to provide for his family, David set up a smoker two times a week near his residence in Hickory Flat Georgia and sold ribs until they sold out. As David dedicated more time to the grill, he started to hone his skills, and perfection was on the horizon. Shortly thereafter, chicken was on the menu! A profound love for cooking and a desire to fulfill customers' cravings drove David further into his culinary journey. Wherever he felt he could gain more exposure, David established his business in various locations, and a few years later, he purchased an Airstream. By this time, David had created and perfected what we have all come to love… that DARN GOOD barbeque sauce! Over time, DW BBQ has grown to be a favorite amongst locals in the Hickory Flat area, and word-of-mouth helped create an interest like no other. David’s goal was not only to increase customer base, but to also increase customer satisfaction and strive for perfection in an effort to build a solid foundation that would satisfy everyone's barbeque cravings for years to come. After attending countless air shows and Kansas City Barbecue sanctioned competition shows, listening to many judges ask the question "Why are you not entered into the competition??” and David’s response being "Why do I need 6 judges to tell me how good or not my BBQ is??” .... Travis Reynolds and David Williams teamed up to officially open a neighborhood BBQ joint serving award winning competition style BBQ to the American people.
"They said it can't be done.” DW BBQ was born.
Soon after, our Brunswick Stew was a Grand Champion from the Sip n Swine BBQ competition, and our food continues to bring joy to countless faces and foster friendships across all of North Georgia to this day.
